Vidyard Alternatives: The Best Options When You Actually Send at Volume
By Pitchlane team · June 20, 2024 ·
The best Vidyard alternative for outbound is Pitchlane. Vidyard gives a list-based team two options: a rep records every video, or an AI avatar of that rep does. Pitchlane plays one real recording over each prospect’s own website, for $67 a month for 500 videos. If you came here because Vidyard feels expensive, the price is a symptom of the bigger problem, which is that it was built for a different kind of seller.
What Vidyard actually costs an outbound team
Vidyard licenses by the seat. As of November 2026, Starter runs $59 per seat a month on annual billing and $89 monthly. Unlimited AI video needs the Video Agent add-on at another $24 to $29 per seat. Teams, the plan aimed at five people or more, is sales-quote only, and the free plan stops at five recordings a month.
| Three people sending | Vidyard Starter | Vidyard Starter + Video Agent | Pitchlane |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly cost, annual billing | $177 | $249 | $67 |
| Monthly cost, monthly billing | $267 | $354 | $67 |
| Real recordings needed for 500 leads | 500 | 500, or none with an avatar | 1 |
| What the prospect sees | You, if you recorded it | You, or a generated likeness | You, over their website |
A three-minute cycle per video (record, retake, upload, paste) makes 500 hand recordings 25 hours of work. Bill that at any sensible SDR rate and the licence is the small number in the calculation.
Per-seat pricing punishes the way outbound is actually run. Agencies and small GTM teams send huge volume from one or two people, and a seat tells you nothing about that. Pitchlane charges by video: $37 for 250, $67 for 500, with packages up to 20,000.
Why the avatar isn’t the answer for cold outreach
Vidyard knows hand recording doesn’t scale, which is why AI Avatars exist. You train one on a 90-second video and it reads scripts with keywords swapped per recipient, at up to 10 minutes of processing per minute of video. For a follow-up to a customer who knows you, plenty of people won’t mind.
A cold prospect is a different audience. They’ve got no relationship with you and they’re looking for a reason to delete the email. A likeness that says their name opens with a question you don’t want asked: is this real? Once they’ve decided it isn’t, they’ve also decided what they think of the sender. Pitchlane’s video never has that moment, because it’s your actual recording. It doesn’t say their name, and the name lives in the email and the title. What it does show is their own site scrolling behind you, which a generic take can’t fake.
Vidyard is good at plenty of things: hosting, watch analytics, and the HubSpot, Salesforce and Salesloft workflows of a large sales floor. It’s also a much bigger platform than a four-person outbound team will ever use.

1. Pitchlane: the alternative if you’re running outbound
Record your pitch once and Pitchlane renders a video for every lead with their website or LinkedIn profile behind you. Each lead gets a branded landing page with a booking link through Calendly, SavvyCal, HubSpot or Zcal, plus a personalized GIF for the email. Your existing sender does the sending: Smartlead and Instantly connect directly, and lemlist, HubSpot, Apollo and 20+ others connect by CSV, webhook or Zapier. There’s a REST API too, if you’re wiring it into Clay.

Erik Paulson’s agency reports 300% more meetings and $14k MRR of closed deals after adding it to their outreach. Bram booked 18 meetings from 140 contacts. Sanmarie added £15,000 in recurring revenue. Those are their campaigns, and they’re the reason we’d put this ahead of everything else below for a team measured on meetings.
2. Hippo Video: the closest thing to the same idea
Hippo Video automates names, images and website or LinkedIn backgrounds, so it’s a real option for list-based video, and it has a free tier. It’s priced like Vidyard though: Pro is $20 to $30 per user for 100 videos, Teams $60 to $75 for 300, Enterprise $80 for 500 with a 10-seat minimum. An agency sending 2,000 a month from two people would need to buy seats to get there.
3. BombBomb: better inbox plugins, same hand recording
BombBomb’s Gmail and Outlook plugins and mobile apps make recording easier than most, and its market is sellers with relationships, including mortgage and real estate. Leaving Vidyard for BombBomb saves money per seat and leaves your actual problem exactly where it was: someone still records every video.
4. Loom: cheaper, simpler, built for your team
Loom is the cheap escape if all you ever used in Vidyard was the recorder, at $18 a user with a usable free tier. It’s strongest on internal async video, including customer training clips, and it has nothing for running a campaign against a list. We’ve written up how it compares for outbound separately.
5. Wistia: if your Vidyard account is really a video library
Plenty of Vidyard accounts are marketing teams hosting webinars and demos. Wistia is built for that job, with analytics, lead capture and attribution through HubSpot, Marketo and Pardot on Business + Signals. It’s the right comparison for marketing teams. It won’t help an SDR at all.
6. HeyGen: avatars without the rest of Vidyard
If the avatar is what you wanted, HeyGen is the specialist: better range of avatars and languages, priced in credits. The same objection applies in cold email, and you’d be building the lead list, landing page and sequencer handoff yourself.
How to move from Vidyard in an afternoon
You don’t need to migrate your library to test this. Keep your Vidyard account running until the numbers are in.
- Pick the sequence you’re already sending and the segment that gets it.
- Export those leads with a website column from your CRM, Apollo or Clay.
- Record one 60-second pitch that’s true for everyone in the segment. The video prospecting playbook has a script you can steal.
- Set the prospect’s website as the first page, and put your proof and booking link on the pages after it.
- Import, check the rejected rows, watch the test video.
- Push to your sequencer and swap the merge fields into your first email.
- Compare replies per 100 leads against the sequence you were running before.

The move
Vidyard is a fine place to host video, and a costly way to run outbound. Your reps shouldn’t be spending 25 hours a campaign on takes, and your prospects shouldn’t be working out whether they’re looking at a synthetic version of you. Start a Pitchlane trial, record one minute, and have 250 personalized videos in your sequencer this week.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Vidyard alternative?
Pitchlane, for any team that sends to lists. Vidyard scales by selling seats and AI avatars; Pitchlane plays your one real recording over each prospect's own website, for $67 a month for 500 videos. If you only ever used Vidyard as a recorder, Loom is the cheap exit. If your account was a marketing library, Wistia is the right swap.
Who are Vidyard's competitors?
For sales video: Pitchlane, Hippo Video, BombBomb and Loom. For marketing hosting: Wistia and Vimeo. For AI avatars: HeyGen. They split by how a video gets made. Hand recorders such as BombBomb and Loom need a take per prospect, avatar tools generate a likeness of you, and Pitchlane renders one real recording per lead with the prospect's site behind you.
Is there a free Vidyard alternative?
Yes, depending on what you used Vidyard for. Loom Starter is the best free recorder with 25 videos per person. Wistia has a free hosting plan. Hippo Video includes 50 automated videos a month. None will carry a campaign of several hundred leads, which is the smallest test worth running. Pitchlane's trial gives you 14 days and 250 videos for that.
How much does Vidyard cost?
As of November 2026, Starter is $59 per seat a month on annual billing and $89 monthly. Unlimited AI video needs the Video Agent add-on, another $24 to $29 per seat. Teams and Enterprise are quote-only, and the free plan stops at five recordings a month. Three people on Starter cost $177 a month before the add-on, against $67 for 500 Pitchlane videos.
What is the best Vidyard alternative for sales outreach?
Pitchlane. Outbound means one pitch to hundreds of people, and Vidyard either has a rep record each one or sends an avatar in their place. Pitchlane renders your single recording with each prospect's website scrolling behind you, builds the landing page and GIF, and pushes everything into Smartlead, Instantly or your sequencer of choice.
What is the best Vidyard alternative for customer training videos?
Loom, and it is not close. Training clips are one video watched by many people on your own team or customer base, which is exactly what Loom is built for, at $18 per user with a usable free tier. Wistia if you need hosting, chapters and analytics on a public library. Neither has anything to do with prospecting, and neither does that job in Vidyard.
Vidyard vs Loom: which should I pick?
Loom for internal and training video, Vidyard for a sales floor that wants sharing pages and CRM analytics. Loom is cheaper and simpler. Both are hand recorders, so every prospect still means another take, which is the problem a team leaving Vidyard usually has. For outbound, the honest answer is neither.
Does Vidyard have AI avatars?
Yes. Train one on a 90-second video and it reads scripts with keywords swapped per recipient, at up to 10 minutes of processing per minute of video. Every plan including Free can create a custom avatar; unlimited generation needs the Video Agent add-on. We would keep avatars out of cold outreach, where a suspected fake costs you the prospect.
What is the best software for mass video personalization?
Pitchlane. One recording becomes a personalized video for every lead, with their website or LinkedIn profile as the background, a branded landing page and a personalized GIF for the email, at $37 for 250 videos or $67 for 500 with packages up to 20,000. Hippo Video does similar work capped per seat. Avatar tools personalize the words and lose the real face.
Is Vidyard worth it for a small sales team?
Rarely. A three-person outbound team pays $177 to $354 a month and still records every video by hand, or pays extra to send an avatar instead. Vidyard earns its price on a large sales floor using its HubSpot, Salesforce and Salesloft workflows and watch analytics. A small team sending to lists gets more replies per dollar from one recording rendered per lead.
